CHES offers a robust professional learning program for Victorian government school educators focused on teaching high-ability students. This includes termly webinars, one-day workshops, and an annual state-wide conference, all designed to enhance teaching practices, support equity and engagement, and promote high-quality, responsive teaching strategies. Participation is fully subsidised and supported with CRT funding. Teachers are encouraged to join our statewide Professional Learning Community (PLC) for ongoing collaboration and development

CHES CONFERENCE

In November 2025, CHES ran its inaugural state-wide conference for all Victorian schools from P to 12.

This expansion of our professional learning was aimed at providing ongoing support to schools, teachers and students through collaboration, resource sharing and discussion forums.

One Day Workshop

CHES, in partnership with Deakin University, is offering a statewide professional learning program for Victorian government school teachers. Across one-day workshops running each term, participants explore who high-ability learners are, how to design curriculum that challenges them, and evidence-based pedagogy aligned with VTLM 2.0. Sessions are hy-flex (in person at CHES, South Yarra, or online via Zoom), run 9:00am–3:30pm, and include access to a Deakin resource portal and a practical classroom action plan. The program is fully subsidised for government schools, with CRT funding available. Certificates of completion are issued by CHES and Deakin University.

Registration Process

Individual applications are welcomed for these courses. Where feasible for schools, we encourage two or more staff perschool to attend together.
To be eligible for the program you must be in a current teaching or leadership role (full-time or part-time) in a Victorian government school.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

These courses are fully subsidised by the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) for government school participants. There is no cost to schools.
